Στις 20 Μαΐου κυκλοφορεί υπό την αιγίδα των Aaron και Bryce Dessner των National η συλλογή The Day Of The Dead, η οποία αποτελεί ένα φόρο τιμής στους Grateful Dead. Το project αυτό βρισκόταν στο studio πολύ καιρό, αλλά επιτέλους είναι έτοιμο να δει το φως της δημοσιότητας.

Η 4AD Records που θα κυκλοφορήσει τον δίσκο ανακοίνωσε αρκετές πληροφορίες, όπως τον αριθμό των κομματιών που αποτελούν το The Day Of The Dead.  Ο αριθμός  59 δεν είναι φάρσα, είναι πραγματικότητα, γιατί τόσα θα είναι τα τραγούδια που θα περιλαμβάνονται στη συλλογή και, όπως φαίνεται από τις λίστες που έχουν αναρτηθεί, θα χωριστούν σε 3 ενότητες, Vol.1 Thunder, Vol.2 Lightning , Vol.3 Sunshine.

Όσο για το ποιοι καλλιτέχνες θα ερμηνεύσουν τα κομμάτια εκτός από τους National, των οποίων τα μέλη και αδέρφια Aaron και Bryce Dessner υπογράφουν και την παραγωγή, μεταξύ τους θα δει κανείς τους Wilco, Lee Ranaldo, Jim James, Mumford and Sons, The Flaming Lips, Anhoni, Sharon Van Etten, Local Natives, Courtney Barnett, The War on Drugs, Fucked Up, Bruce Hornsby, DeYarmond Edison, Justin Vernon , Megafaun, Jenny Lewis και Phosphorescent.

Το The Day Of The Dead θα είναι διαθέσιμο τόσο σε ψηφιακή μορφή, σε εξαπλό CD αλλά και σε Βινύλιο (box set, εννοείται) με όλα τα κέρδη από τις πωλήσεις να πηγαίνουν στhν ΜΚΟ Red Hot που μάχεται κατά του AIDS.
